Gender inequality is still a big issue today and the movie industry is of no exception. Employment practices that pertain to film and television writers are the reasons why there are gender inequality existing in hollywood. There has been information the past regarding this all in the form of quantitative data from the results of employment and membership records of the Writers Guild of America. The Writers Guild of America is where the writers of Hollywood are all grouped together as a Union and over the years, the industry has gone though changes from hierarchy to market to have better knowledge the way Hollywood conducts it's employment service. From there on we see how the participation of women writers contribute to the types of gender inequality in film and television. In the end it is shown that the solutions to tr to diminish gender inequality proves to be futile in Hollywood. When it comes to the issue of employment and pay in America in where men are paid more than women, the movie industry is along the many job professions that is connected to this problem. It is all apart of the sex segregation that sociologists have brought up that determines the outcomes of a man or woman's career.
