This last section discusses the of how gender roles in movies have greatly changed in which female characters have broken out of the traditional romantic and drama themed movies and transitioned to roles that have a more complex, alienated, and violent structure that you would see in mostly action movies. Examples of these types of changes could be displayed in a series of movies in 1991 to include Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Thelma and Louise, and V.I. Warshawski. It has been known that many Hollywood filmmakers, producers, and writers constructed into an elite social group that connects to different political and social attitudes against other leadership cadres in the society, and the large amount of public that they entertain. To be more depth of the transformation of roles that women have taken in the past, it was looked at that from the 1940's to the 1970's, the characters that they played were usually meant to have men focus on them and to neglect their goals of careers, adventure, wealth, going to a war, or a life of crime in the exchange of transitioning energy into domesticity. Other roles that were common back than were women playing characters to be young, attractive, and motivated by romance. Over the years, however, the ideas and myths of women have better civility than men, maternal instinct, and dedication to others has turned into common roles that are played by men, where examples are to be dangerous, greedy, and evil, mainly in roles where they are ruling authority. A major social outcome of this recent trend is that the Hollywood Elite, which happens to be a huge college educated professional class, has many different views on the changing of gender roles, compared to that of the studio professionals who created the industry. It looks that the Hollywood elite has a "liberal collectivist" views that pertain to economic organization that goes against the acceptance of business as a legitimate institution. Another ideology that was adapted by them was "expressive individualism" used in social roles as a value to express any kind of behavior, which directs strongly on sexual behavior, as long as it does not hurt another. With this type of movement that has been created, movies with a heroine leading a movie such as resident evil, kill bill, and columbiana have been strongly received and it looks as this movement is still alive and well to this day.
